At least 4 innocent people were killed in yesterday Iran’s bombing and that is severely condemned. It is clear to everyone that the continuation of the Israel-Gaza war exposes risks that are not limited to Israel and Palestine. The longer the conflict lasts the more probable it will be to have a devastating long-term war. The consequences of that are impossible to predict now. It seems the only option for the world now is to put more emphasis on political solutions for bringing security to the region and starting the process of limiting the war more and more. When this process starts Houthis will have a reason to stop the attacks.
Israelis should know that eliminating the security risks cannot be achieved in one military operation. There is no “the next day after the war”. Security is an ongoing battle, not by guns but by more effective tools. All Israelis want to remove insecurity. Now that the continuation of war indicates the lives of more hostages will be at serious risk, it is time to present more effective plans in a step-by-step manner where security is achieved by persuading Palestinian militants to put down guns in return for moving toward long-term sustainable peace.

The first step is addressing the Israeli public. When there is nowhere safe for Palestinians, there will be no safe place for hostages too. The continuation of the war put them at serious risk. Besides, today’s Hamas militants were children who saw the previous wars. This war will produce the next generations of fighters. It’s hard to be reasonable after huge shocks but it’s now time to move away from emotions and start reasonable discussions in public. These are vulnerabilities to Netanyahu’s side that are exposed over time and should be harnessed by peace-seeking individuals.
