W20 – 10 Dec 2023 – UPDATE 3 – Platform

block-based internet is decentralized at its core.

This type of internet incorporates intermediary services. For example, if individuals want to sell a product they will need to use code blocks for the check-out process. In the current model, all functionalities are accumulated in one website (Amazon for example), but in the block-based internet, several check-out code block providers will compete with each other. Accumulation of services is far more difficult in this framework and this will lead to more democratic economic structures.

UPDATE 1:

Block-based internet requires modular programming and blockchain structures. AI can very easily be incorporated into this type of programming.

Through blockchain structures, users can adapt, modify and build on top of other people’s blocks. But blockchain has another advantage too. It structurally facilitates the formation of communities because people in the same block are linked. Governments try to enhance economic productivity by supporting startups and economic activities. This type of internet, at its core, comes with a suitable mechanism for this purpose.

UPDATE 2:

There are pros and cons in an open-source economy. The advantage is that resources will not be wasted to rebuild things over and over again. But its clear disadvantage is that it discourages innovation if innovation is not economically beneficial. in a blockchain structure, the evolution path of a block is clear. It is possible that blocks in the previous layers also earn money when blocks on the upper layers are being used. In the check-out example, when an individual buys the service from a code block provider, all blocks in previous layers used in that particular code block (the one that was actually sold) will earn money. This means blocks that are indirectly used again and again earn money although their blocks have not been bought. This method supports good blocks, the ones that help the economy the most.

This type of revenue generation is exclusive to the open-source economy, so in this sense, the main disadvantage of this economy turns into a positive point.

UPDATE 3:

blockchain structures require different types of programming languages. It’s much simpler to debug AI-generated codes when the building blocks of the code are not new to the programmer. Programming will no longer be writing codes from scratch but instead, it will be linking different building blocks where each block is contained in a different blockchaine. This changes the nature of programming and inevitably changes the programming languages that will be used. Universal building blocks will be inevitable here. Programming languages will then be like complex systems where new complex entities are built based on simple building blocks. This changes the paradigm of what programming language should be.

This specifies the structure of blocks too (for example updates in SM). Blocks are codes consisting of several other blocks.
