A while ago I wrote that tourism can be used as a means of natural awareness. It’s probably time to work on this idea more.
In documentary movies about nature, the crew follow a group of animals for some months and film different periods of their lives. In contrast, when people travel to a natural place they see one tiny section of that movie. People visit different places but those are tiny dispersed clips. Natural awareness requires that those tiny sections be glued together. Currently, there result of visiting different places is a set of dispersed video clips. That’s as if one goes through an environment profile on Instagram and watches different clips. This doesn’t generate natural knowledge very much. Imagine a group of animals migrating from A to B to C, etc. during a year period. A, B and C are in different countries. This requires a network of tourism agencies to follow the route. The idea is that each trip shouldn’t be an isolated incident. It should be part of a bigger journey. That’s like living with nature and its inhabitants for a long time and migrating from one place to another because the journey continues even when each trip is over. This requires that tourists and visitors are linked together via a social network.
I’ll work on it more but the main point is that discrete incidents should turn into an awareness that people are not alone on this planet. This happens when they live with nature throughout different phases of nature.
UPDATE 1:
The program links kids from different countries together. This can be a school program for natural studies in two or more countries for kids (accompanied by their parents). Kids track specific animals for some years and learn about them and nature. They will get to know them and grow up with them.
UPDATE 2:
I’ll work on the idea for a few more days then contact an environmentalist. I’ll ask her to join the project as a colleague. Then I’ll go to Dubai and work on the project. It takes time to get to know people and this is the necessary first step.
